What is alopecia? Can SMP help?

Alopecia is an autoimmune disorder. Your immune system essentially attacks your own body. With alopecia, it’s the hair follicles that are attacked and the result is different types of hair loss, unique to everyone.

You can lose all the hair on your head (alopecia areata totalis), or the hair loss comes out in clumps from the head (alopecia areata – as seen in the photo), or throughout the entire body (alopecia areata universalis).

The condition is unique to every individual. In some instances the hair grows back but then falls out again, sometimes it grows back and remains, while in others the hair is lost and never comes back.

With careful placement and building phases through each session, SMP can help disguise the areas in which hair is lost.
