About Androgenetic Alopecia

Female pattern baldness, also commonly referred to as ”androgenetic alopecia”, is hair loss that affects women around the world. Female pattern baldness is similar to male pattern baldness, except that women tend to lose their hair in a different pattern than men do. As women age, hair loss is actually normal, about 66% of women will experience hair loss following menopause, with less than half of women making it past 65 with a full head of hair. Female pattern baldness is more common after menopause, however, it can occur earlier in life, meaning hormones are likely responsible. If you notice you are losing hair earlier in life, we highly recommend visiting a dermatologist and your doctor for a proper diagnosis.

  • Avoid wearing hats.

  • Wear your hair in healthy hairstyles to avoid damaging your hair and roots.
